Laser Hair Removal

Many patients communicate to Dr. Hankins that they are tired of using painful techniques to remove unwanted body hair. Laser hair removal is a great technique for these patients, but something to keep in mind, these systems do not remove body hair completely, but for a period of time preventing future hair growth in the intended areas. Patients no longer have to shave, wax or use those nasty hair removal creams.  Laser hair removal works great on the face, neck, arms, legs, the back area, even shoulders, and it tends to work best with those whom have light skin and dark hair.

At Dr. Hankins Plastic Surgery, staff utilizes the Lumenis LightSheer Duet System that uses two laser removal heads for faster and less painful treatment, and it’s quick for patients. After the treatment area is thoroughly cleansed, patients are given the option of applying numbing cream.  The treatment area is scanned by Dr. Hankins with the laser, and the hair follicles absorb this light which vaporizes the melanin pigment thus preventing future hair growth. Desired results may require several treatments, and Dr. Hankins’ staff can discuss this in more detail.

Once completed, the treatment areas are cleaned, and patients are back to work or normal activities.  Dr. Hankins and his staff will most likely recommend special skin care treatment after having laser hair removal.
